Target Tuesday: Stars and Stripes

4th of july
Happy Target Tuesday!

I can't get over all the cool 4th of July inspirational photos I keep seeing on style blogs, fashion websites and Instagram albums. I absolutely love these denim cuts offs with the star and stripe prints-there's nothing more American than denim cut offs. Today's Target Tuesday outfit pays homage to the colours that never run as my hubster always reminds me. I think he keeps reminding me of that because I constantly mention that I'm a citizen of three different countries. But I digress. It's a pretty chic way to incorporate our flag's colours without being overly tacky if you're headed to the beach or a swimming pool for some fourth of july fun.

I found this American inspired bathing suit top that I had to turn into a bandeau top to wear.

Did I mention that I really like these denim cut offs? ^_^ The distressed denim down the front with the stripped material peaking through the pockets gives it that classic American feel.

Weekend Wrap Up

IMG_0061
Ok, so I know its a wee bit late for a weekend wrap up on Tuesday morning after 1am but I had a great time this past weekend and since I had Monday off, my weekend has finally come to a close! I finally upgraded my phone after a year and a half... I know ridiculous huh? But I'm hoping that since I have a fully functioning phone now that it will be easier to blog more frequently since I'm always on the go (and my instagram gallery won't take 22minutes to load now that I've gotten with the tech program). Ok so getting back to my weekend wrap up.

Friday
The weekend started on Friday spending the day with my mom. Who doesn't like a day to laugh,  giggle, shop, and eat with their mommie. And of course she brought me to the cutest places to catch some great finds and sales.

The great finds include my shoes below and the summer blow out sales racks that I tackled.

 Saturday
Saturday was the beginning of the summer picnic with friends and family. We all actually decided to create health goals moving forward so we incorporated a lot of fruits and veggies into our meal. Then later that night we kinda abandoned the goals and opted for roasted marshmallows-some things will never change...

While I was washing a piece of lettuce I realized that it was shaped in a form of a bowl and would actually make a great cup. I guess if I was in the wilderness it would make more sense...but as you can see my house is slightly in the distance behind me...

Go green who needs cups anyways?!

Marshmallows all night long....

Sunday

My brother stopped by to visit me as he always does when he is in town. He took some time away from his grind to stop by to show love to the family. He's the reason why I got the fashion clients I did to pay my rent in NYC (I should probably write about the dress I made that paid my rent...). Back when we were living in the city, he'd take me to the listening parties he was invited to or around Def Jam where I'd always wear my creations. So proud of him for pursing his dreams and sticking to his passion. His work has been used in MTV P. Diddy & Jay Z diaries among other projects. He's an old soul at heart, I bet you could never guess his age (if you do I'll have to give you something). ^_^

And there you have it...my weekend wrap up!

Target Tuesdays: Leopard Skinnies

IMG_0773
When it comes to prints, I’m not one of those people who go overboard with animal prints on my purse, jacket, and accessories, but when I saw these leopard printed pants, my animal instincts perked up with ohhhs and ahhhs of how I could do some damage with those pants! (with a great outfit of course). For Target Tuesday, these leopard printed skinnies are way too cute to pass up. They can be dressed up with pumps, open toe sandals, or cute converses (which I have a pair of mustard yellow converses that would go perfect with this outfit!) Here's a few things to keep in mind when you wear your leopard skinnies!

IMG_0804
Since leopard pants are an all over print, pair your leopard pants with a solid colour top. This will make your pants the focal point as the main item so everything else serves as an accent instead of an eye sore.
IMG_0773.jpg crop
Don’t be afraid to add colour to your printed outfit! I can easily see a pretty pink blouse with these pants to add vibrancy to the overall look or a bold color belt to create contrast.
IMG_0814
Accessorize! Even if it is minimal, it will give a simple, fresh, and clean look to your outfit.

Wear your skinnies with confidence! Having a vibrant personality to match your pants is key to individuality!

Loving Memories

Black and Gold
Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a remembrance service for a beautiful soul…
As many of you may (or may not know), my fellow vlogger buddy from She Sings Lovely is a close friend of mine. We grew up together and I couldn’t have been more proud to see that she’s been such an inspiration to many people through her beauty, make-up, and accessory videos. A few days ago she posted a commemorative video about her mommie entitled Heaven Just Gained an Angel. As she mentions in her video, people went to her mom before the counselors and the principal to deal with any issues. She was always well put together and was known for humming a song to melt any bitterness and heartache away (as if our high school troubles were that life threatening).

I can only think of the great things that her mommy did when I knew her in high school including a wall of pictures that she kept near her desk that was filled with pictures of all her adopted babies. It was our mini wall of fame. The number of people waiting outside yesterday to get into the church was only proof of her amazing ability to reach so many people. Her infectious laugh and singing will always echo throughout the hallways, community, and in our hearts...

Target Tuesday: Jason Wu for Target Outfit #4

Today marks the last Jason Wu outfit for the month of February for the Target Tuesday Wu marathon. *sniffle, sniffle* For those of you who are just joining me, this month I dedicated all of my outfits for Target Tuesday toward Jason Wu's debut (ohh that rhymes.. ok not quite) of his budget-friendly collection earlier this month. My first outfit that I styled using my personal items can be reviewed here and if you have a minute take a peek at the other two equally flirty outfits here. Today's outfit #4 continues to incorporate Wu's pieces with my personal flair.

I loveeee this poplin dress! I've always loved the way a box pleated skirt looks on me because it creates volume to my slender frame. The purse is a personal favourite too that adds another hue of blue to the overall look. It comes with an additional strap to wear as a cross body bag and it's pretty roomy on the inside to carry your belongings without sacrificing your purse space. I really like the dress because of the great shape and colour! I'm colour crazy (ok, that didn't even make sense) but I love to dive head first into outfits with a punch of colour and this outfit definitely does the trick. I'm pretty sure I'll still be wooing for Wu in years to come {^_^}.

Special thanks to my hubster Lucas for taking my pictures in our house and for designing the cool vintage graphic below! He's so cool...I think he sweats awesomeness (haha).

Target Tuesday: Wooed for Jason Wu for Target

Happy Valentines Day!! So today continues the month of February's Jason Wu for Target Tuesday Series! Since I have two complementary outfits from my finds, I'm going feature two of my favourites today that are perfect for a date out. Last week I styled my outfit using Wu's Milu kitty tee using a cute, cropped blazer and boyish appeal which turned out adorable. Check out outfit #1 for Jason Wu if you didn't see it-> milu outfit. It's actually been pretty funny reading about my fellow blogger's experiences at Target last week after waking up at the crack of dawn just to nab the coveted Jason Wu pieces. In particular, Lindsay from Lindsay's  Look had me doubled over with laughter after reading about her experience. She is like a shopping ninja...she should be in the Olympics. {^-^)

Let's get to the details of outfit #2 for Jason Wu:

I luvvv a good blouse! Especially one that can accommodate my long arms with a good length sleeve. These two pieces were on my list of things that I found last week when I spotted it on the rack after doing a 5 second inventory sweep. The blouse and pleated skirt combo is perfect for Valentines day because its chic without being too overly girly with the red and pink colours. I paired it with my Michael Antonio shoes that my mom bought me for my birthday last year {she's awesome at spotting good finds!} along with a vintage belt that I've had forEVER.
Target blouse: $34.00
Target skirt: $29.00
purse: Wilson's Leather
Shoes: Michael Antonio
belt: Vintage

On to outfit #3 for Wu!
This sleeveless pleated shift dress is so me! It really shows off my arms, not to mention the stripes make me look taller {bonus!}I feel like a very cool vintage airline stewardess because of the shape of the dress {maybe its all in the hair, who knows-I could be hallucinating}. I have to confess though that I through out the belt that came with the dress and substituted it for {yet another} vintage belt. I always swap out the 'flimsy belt' to give it more structure because I'm so lean. If not then the belt looks more like a noose around my waist. Yikes.

Target Tuesdays: Back to Basics-> Colored Denim 'n Trench Coats

PhysicalCanvas: Back to Basics 5
Oh lovely dayyyyyyyyy! Yes, another week of Target Tuesday keeps on rolling in good things in the New Year. But what is up with this weather lately?! The weather has been ridiculously good to us during January (which is not surprising to me at all since it's always very nice around my birthday for the last 5 years). It's almost like a faux spring day when the grass is getting greener and the weather is starting to perk up after a yucky winter. But we haven't had a winter really. Who knows...

I'm honestly glad that the weather decided to reflect my mood (for once) because I had this really great idea to brighten up my wardrobe during this time of year (and quite honestly I was almost scared to commit to this outfit if there was snow on the ground! Not a pretty pic at all). Target has been rolling out the summer stuff before the holiday season ended and I love it! I know "colour blocking" has been up and down the blogosphere, runways, and forecasting sites but I can never get enough of bold prints in one outfit. To me it's not a trend...it's just the style of dress that fits me the most. This outfit makes me feel so colourful...skittles ain't got nothing on me today!

Target Tuesdays: Pleather 'n Knit Pleasures

Pleather Jacket
Oyi! It's the first Tuesday of 2012!! And I must say it feels good to be starting the year off right and on schedule for the day. I'm sure a Tuesday will slip past me sometime but for the moment I'm just glad that I got my butt together to put a post together for today's outfit. Shall we proceed?

Today's outfit is a blend of a pleather jacket and a knit mini skirt that I found in Target at the end of December. Not only do I love the contrast in material, but also in the colour. The cognac jacket with the gray and white look pretty cool to me. The blouse underneath almost gives it a bad girl preppy look, eh? *shrugs*

Hopefully this year I can expand this post to beyond clothing to beauty and cosmetics. We'll see {^-^}
What was the last thing that you bought from Target? Send me your pics so that I can feature you!
