Target Tuesdays: Autumn Florals and Cropped Jackets

Like every fashion maven, fall seems to be one of my favourite times of the year to layer rich colours and cropped jackets without the fear of being under dressed for the forthcoming winter weather. This is the time of year where your coat can still compliment your overall look of the day without being swallowed by a drab looking winter coat, swimming to your knees down (and trust me, I hate the cold, so my winter coats have to cover everything!)

As you know every Tuesday, I style an outfit from head to toe exclusively from Target for the trendy fashionista on a budget. Target has always been known for it's fashion forward apparel so for me it was a natural fit to rise to the style challenge from week to week to create an outfit for my blog! Especially for those who live upstate NY like me where the big name stores are obsolete (I so wish we had....)

So today for Target Tuesday I focused on the burgundy berries and the mushroom grays to really pull this autumnal look together. The all-over printed skirt creates a rich and effortless look which can be paired with a cropped jacket for an edgier yet professional and polished look. Plus the neutral base colour in the skirt and the bag with the shoes really compliment the overall outfit without looking overly matchy in one hue. The functional pockets are a fashion bonus for my lipgloss and cell phone which I must have within reach- nothing is worse than fumbling through your purse to look for a small tube of gloss! I could easily wear this to work during the day and slip away to an evening event with this edgy look
[^-^]
I feel so cool with this faux leather jacket on! So James Dean! haha

Merona Skirt $18.99
Merona Satchel $34.99
 Mossimo Shoes: $29.00
Xhilaration Jacket $39.99

Burberry to Premiere Runway Collection

burberry prorsum
Social media has outdone itself again! For those of you who weren't able to attend New York Fashion Week these last couple of days, you may have discovered that designers have started to stream their fashion shows so that outsiders can get that "front row" seat feeling. It's great for those who are still in their pj's who want to see the models walk the runway. I watched Tommy Hilfiger's show on September 11th and it was perfect for viewing versus waiting for the pictures to be released.

Well Burberry is continuing this trend with a live stream of its show today. The show as aired about an hour ago but can still be seen on their website here. The London-based fashion house has partnered with Twitter to develop what the two companies are calling a “Tweetwalk.” Backstage Twitpics of every look will be taken and shared with the brand’s followers on Twitter. Fortunately for me I was able to watch a few minutes of it before heading off to do something but will catch the rest of it on demand.
I love how I was able to watch the make-up artists do the model’s make up and the prep process of getting ready before the show. I even got a few tricks on how to do a smokey eye just by watching the make up artist!
Don't you just love technology?

Target Tuesdays (belated): Missoni for Target

"There's Black Friday, then there's Target Tuesday."                             The Associated Press' Retail writer Anne D'Innocenzio

Well heck yea Anne join the club and become my blog reader to follow Target Tuesdays!! The opening line to Anne's article, Designer's line creates Black Friday-like buzz, made me chuckle as if Target Tuesdays was a new phenomenon. Well maybe for her (and the rest of the world that doesn't read my blog) it is. oops!

Anyhoo...Happy belated Target Tuesday! Yes it's clearly two days after Missoni's launch, but I actually went to the store on Tuesday after work to see what left overs were thrown to the wolves and left for dead and clearly the most random items were indeed left behind to create a smorgasbord of Missoni items. I was extremely tempted to create a beautiful display of the left over Missoni items that survived the wreckage.

Approaching the empty fixtures wasn't as much as a shock as I thought it was given the collapse of Target's website from the increased traffic and the shut down of their pop-up store just 6 hrs into their grand opening. Finally, face to face with lopsided hangers that clung to the last patterned shirt with no bottoms I thought Ugh how am I suppose to do a Target Tuesdays post on my blog without ONE piece of Missoni? So I did what any fashionista would do-I shrugged my shoulders and went to the accessories section thinking ehh maybe next time when another shipment goes into production. But my stylist senses kicked in and I immediately went to the lingerie department to find any remaining pieces and that is when I saw this beautiful baby doll top and yelled this will work!

Magically everything fell into place as I carefully hand plucked my outfit for my belated Target Tuesday post. I will always love doing these posts every week because it helps me rise to the challenge of finding great styles for incredible prices while putting my own spin on it. [check out how it all got stated here]

Mixing Missoni and Mossimo was the perfect solution to my Target Tuesdays challenge. When I realized that everyone in my city would be wearing the same sweater and pull overs that were featured in the ready to wear section, I knew that this snug baby doll dress would inspire the entire ensemble into a casual but playful look. Pairing my brushed gold accessories [from the accessory department that I wandered into earlier] with the walnut brown hiking boots allows me to turn this lingerie top into the focal piece for a cohesive look. Plus I absolutely love the fit of the "bra" ahem..top. [^_^]

Bangles $7.99
Boots $34.99
Cardigan $9.99
Necklace $14.99
Leggings $19.99
Baby Doll Set $29.99

Target Tuesday: The Missoni Countdown to Retail

So ever since Target released the news of Missoni for Target, people have been anticipating the arrival of the high end line into an affordable retail store available for all shapes and wallet sizes. Even though the line isn't slated to be released until September 13th, Manhattan dwellers can get first dibs on the line on Sept 8th at the Target pop-up store on Fashion Night Out at 6pm at 1095 Sixth Avenue near Bryan Park. The family, Angela Missoni and Margherita Maccapani Missoni will be posing for mini-photoshoots with the first 20 guests that spend more than $100.

Once again why wasn't Fashion Night Out created while I was at FIT?? oy! I thought I was going to be in the city for fashion week but I'll have to wait until next year. (boooo) If you haven't already, catch a sneak peek of the Missoni apparel line for men, women, baby, home furnishings, and beauty products here or check out this video:

Colour Block Cabana!

It's Friday!!!

And I promised you yesterday that I'd post a pic of my outfit. I love this strapless pink top. The colour  creates a great punch of colour while the sheer fabric and the details create a delicate and feminine top. The red pants and the suede blue heels make the colours look more vibrant. I'm so happy I am still able to get a summer outfit in and its September!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

feature: Oh to Be a Muse

So apparently I do not keep up with my bloggers enough! I just read my comments from my last post and realized that I was featured on Oh to be a Muse, created by Cheryl! Very cool! I love her site and how she incorporates our shared love of interior design with fashion. Check out the feature HERE. Special thanks to Chanel Tone for suggesting me! Speaking of interior design, I have been watching HGTV like a hawk these last couple of weeks. So let me tell you why I've kinda been slacking on my postings!

Besides work, I've had an extremely busy few months! My hubster (who takes my pictures) and I recently adopted my nephew and are in the middle of house hunting, and to top it off I just got accepted into grad school so I am all over the map right now! I hope to get back into blogging again and plan out my week better. I am thinking about sharing my experiences from FIT and increasing my looks for the week besides Target Tuesdays. Sound good? Yayy so bare with me during all of these life transitions and thanks for spreading the word about physicalcanvas.com! Anyone else getting geared up for school???

My team really helped me out and pulled through! On another note, I have a really cute outfit planned for tomorrow so I'll post it tomorrow! Promise.

OK so I dyed my hair a week and a half ago...I had to get some colour back in it. I've had so many hairstyles its crazy. I actually had this black and blonde combo years ago but just with my bangs when it was in a short bob. I should do a timeline of my hairstyles...you guys probably wouldn't recognize me! Especially since I just permed my hair after 7yrs of going natural. ok that will be my post for this weekend ^_^
