Target Tuesday One Year Anniversary

This month marks the ONE year anniversary of my Target Tuesday posts!! How exciting. I never expected that it would pick up as much speed as it has, but I'm so glad that I decided to dedicate and feature such fashionable pieces at a low cost! Here are my favourites throughout the last 52 weeks of the year. I may have to split this post into two since there are so many favourites ;D Click through to recap the highlights of Target Tuesday this past year! (there are definitely some hair transformations as well which is certainly another blog post in itself!)

(how could I forget where it all began)

(who doesn't like a good vacation?!)

(THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAV!!)

(the basics of colour-blocking)

Next week I'll choose a few more that are my favourites to close out my celebratory Target Tuesday anniversary!

Burberry to Premiere Runway Collection

burberry prorsum
Social media has outdone itself again! For those of you who weren't able to attend New York Fashion Week these last couple of days, you may have discovered that designers have started to stream their fashion shows so that outsiders can get that "front row" seat feeling. It's great for those who are still in their pj's who want to see the models walk the runway. I watched Tommy Hilfiger's show on September 11th and it was perfect for viewing versus waiting for the pictures to be released.

Well Burberry is continuing this trend with a live stream of its show today. The show as aired about an hour ago but can still be seen on their website here. The London-based fashion house has partnered with Twitter to develop what the two companies are calling a “Tweetwalk.” Backstage Twitpics of every look will be taken and shared with the brand’s followers on Twitter. Fortunately for me I was able to watch a few minutes of it before heading off to do something but will catch the rest of it on demand.
I love how I was able to watch the make-up artists do the model’s make up and the prep process of getting ready before the show. I even got a few tricks on how to do a smokey eye just by watching the make up artist!
Don't you just love technology?

feature: Oh to Be a Muse

So apparently I do not keep up with my bloggers enough! I just read my comments from my last post and realized that I was featured on Oh to be a Muse, created by Cheryl! Very cool! I love her site and how she incorporates our shared love of interior design with fashion. Check out the feature HERE. Special thanks to Chanel Tone for suggesting me! Speaking of interior design, I have been watching HGTV like a hawk these last couple of weeks. So let me tell you why I've kinda been slacking on my postings!

Besides work, I've had an extremely busy few months! My hubster (who takes my pictures) and I recently adopted my nephew and are in the middle of house hunting, and to top it off I just got accepted into grad school so I am all over the map right now! I hope to get back into blogging again and plan out my week better. I am thinking about sharing my experiences from FIT and increasing my looks for the week besides Target Tuesdays. Sound good? Yayy so bare with me during all of these life transitions and thanks for spreading the word about physicalcanvas.com! Anyone else getting geared up for school???

new hair colour

Sooo....I've been a bad blogger but I am so grateful for my new followers!! Definitely leave a comment so I can check out your side of the world:)

Tomorrow is Friday yayyyy! It's been a busy week! I've been preparing for a big event that just happened yesterday and it was a success and its now over! My team really helped me out and pulled through! On another note, I have a really cute outfit planned for tomorrow so I'll post it tomorrow! Promise.

OK so I dyed my hair a week and a half ago...I had to get some colour back in it. I've had so many hairstyles its crazy. I actually had this black and blonde combo years ago but just with my bangs when it was in a short bob. I should do a timeline of my hairstyles...you guys probably wouldn't recognize me! Especially since I just permed my hair after 7yrs of going natural. ok that will be my post for this weekend ^_^

v-Style: Mila Kunis

Continuing the v-Style series on my blog gives me creative freedom outside the confines of a budget! Admit it, we're all budding fashionistas and stylist so its understandable to have the urge to dress someone for a day! I received some pretty good feedback on my choices from the last v-Style so I think I will keep this up to keep my styling skills sharp!  So as a quick recap as to what v-Style is you can see my last post here or you can read this quick overview: "v-Style" stands for virtual style. An idea that I thought of a few months ago if I was given the opportunity to dress a celebrity for a particular event on an unlimited budget. Putting it altogether on the web makes it virtual..get it? good! ok let's get to today's v-Style!

Mila, Mila, Mila...oh how I love her! I wasn't too much a fan of her until I saw her in Book of Eli and Black Swan (somehow I never got around to watch That 70s Show but I always noted her outfits in the late night reruns). She always seems to have this girlie but dark side to her which I love. As of of late, she's been out and about with cutie Justin Timberlake as they promote their new movie "Friends with Benefits." I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've seen her well cut, flirtatious dresses that she's worn for various appearances.

So today I'm dressing *wink wink* Mila in this really cute Ralph Lauren cashmere wrap dress that's right above the knees since I've noticed that many of her dresses are around that length. I think it suits the dark haired beauty and could easily be worn to a Regis and Kelly taping or a day out in London to promote her new movie. I think the platform shoes are a subliminal homage to her stint on That 70s Show!

Happy Anniversary

Talk about falling off the face of the blogosphere! I'm back! I definitely took a longer vacation than I anticipated from the holiday weekend. I think it was because I was out of town and disconnected from my phone, twitter, facebook, and other social media outlets (I don't believe in roaming, I'll just watch the news like regular people to keep up with what's going on in the world. lol)  I went to Toronto this past weekend to celebrate Canada and made it back in time to bask in the glory of the 4th of July.I'll post pictures soon. In other news, today is my 3 year anniversary-time flies when you're having fun! I still can't believe my mom made this train. awesome! The picture above was taken in my house after I got the mannequin from work. Perfect! [^_^]

I have a lot of exciting things to share so stay tuned!

(this photo looks so fake, especially since its low res but I swear its real.lol!)

I hate to choose between two, but my absolute fav is the spread in W mag because her personality plays up to the clothes that she is wearing and her alter ego shines through as an artist and performer. Although looking at it again I really “need” those Gareth Pugh pants by the near the flames in the Dazed shoot. Shoot, this is hard!

Target Tuesdays: Music Mania

It's Target Tuesday!! And what's more exciting than fashion except celebrities that wear beautiful clothes with great vocal skills! Today for Target Tuesday I decided to feature Beyonce since she is releasing her deluxe editon of her new album “4″ exclusively at Target today! The female solist is also featured in Target's new commercial which gives a sneak peek into what the singer did on her year-long hiatus, before stepping back into the spotlight. Images of her traveling pop up throughout the 31 second clip as she speaks to the viewers:“It’s hard to see when you move so fast, so I left the stage and I joined the audience. I didn’t perform, I observed. And what I saw inspired me, and now I’m ready to step back into the light. I put so much into my new album and only Target gives you all of it.”

Very cool. Kudos to Target for selling her album exclusively and for the commercial that highlights her travels during her time away. Click here to purchase her album along with 6 bonus tracks and an exclusive video.

Check out the Target Commercial below

Who's buying her album??

Before I forget! Have you seen her spread in W magazine or in Dazed? *gasps!* what do you mean no! Ok, I'll be posting the pics shortly to see which spread is your favourite!

Vogue Italia "Jump & Smile"

Talk about style inspiration! I love this spread! Italia Vogue has always led the pack by featuring all black models in their spreads before and this is just as amazing. “Jump and Smile” photographed by Ellen von Unwerth for Vogue Italia in May 2011 features Ubah Hassan, Jasmine Tookas, Kelly Moreira, Lyndsey Scott, Lilly Taylor, and more.  This is already getting me excited for a model feature that I plan to post very soon. So stay tuned to see my feature on model Kasius who gets to tell us what its really like being a model in the industry and what she has experienced! So excited!

Style Inspiration: Mrs. O

I am so fascinated with our First Lady's style choices! Mrs. Obama's wardrobe keeps the average woman guessing with every outfit: "who is she wearing? where did she get that? I wonder if that will look good on me too!" She always has fun with her clothes and doesn't take herself too seriously. I love the fact that she always incorporates pieces with great colour! Yesterday she was at the Stansted Airport as the President headed for the G8 Summit in Deauville,France wearing this purple ombre dress and coat by Peter Som's Fall 2010 Collection.

Pictured here at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School at the University of Oxford, Mrs. O wore a white tunic with slim black pants and a belt that I would love to add to my closet for this summer! The belt is by Alexander McQueen and adds quite a bit of class to what could have been an ordinary outfit. I can't take my eyes off of the belt! I think we need a closer look...

I know who's closet I would love to raid!
