Trend Trotter: Orange Vintage

So here is my attempt to blog on the go with my outfit of the day instead of waiting to get home and being overly tired to take a pic. There have been too many missed opportunities for a good #OOTD to pass up. From here on its all about living in the moment. So I've started 'Trend Trotter' for all of my outfit posts of the day. I vow to never again wait for the opportunity to take a picture-I'm just going to do it! We'll see how this goes....

I bought this skirt at a thrift store as a set for $15! It came with a wickedly beautiful over-sized blazer. I paired it with this cute shrunken blazer and bracelets. Forgive the pouty face, I wasn't even mad so I'm not sure what was going on in this picture ^_^

feature: Black Girls Killing It

So yesterday I was pleasantly surprised when @BGKI started following me on Twitter and then sent me a message saying that they featured me on the site Black Girls Killing It!I didn't even submit a picture but I am so glad that they found me! It's always refreshing to be recognized for your own personal style and to see other fashionistas and bloggers. What a great community of trendy people! They featured me on their site as well as their Facebook page where 643 fashionistas so far have placed their stamp of approval ^_^ Features are incredibly cool and a great motivator on days when I'm not up for blogging. Thanks BGKI for reigniting the fire!

Weekend Wrap Up

Ok, so I know its a wee bit late for a weekend wrap up on Tuesday morning after 1am but I had a great time this past weekend and since I had Monday off, my weekend has finally come to a close! I finally upgraded my phone after a year and a half... I know ridiculous huh? But I'm hoping that since I have a fully functioning phone now that it will be easier to blog more frequently since I'm always on the go (and my instagram gallery won't take 22minutes to load now that I've gotten with the tech program). Ok so getting back to my weekend wrap up.

Friday
The weekend started on Friday spending the day with my mom. Who doesn't like a day to laugh, giggle, shop, and eat with their mommie. And of course she brought me to the cutest places to catch some great finds and sales.

The great finds include my shoes below and the summer blow out sales racks that I tackled.

Saturday
Saturday was the beginning of the summer picnic with friends and family. We all actually decided to create health goals moving forward so we incorporated a lot of fruits and veggies into our meal. Then later that night we kinda abandoned the goals and opted for roasted marshmallows-some things will never change...

While I was washing a piece of lettuce I realized that it was shaped in a form of a bowl and would actually make a great cup. I guess if I was in the wilderness it would make more sense...but as you can see my house is slightly in the distance behind me...

Go green who needs cups anyways?!

Sunday

My brother stopped by to visit me as he always does when he is in town. He took some time away from his grind to stop by to show love to the family. He's the reason why I got the fashion clients I did to pay my rent in NYC (I should probably write about the dress I made that paid my rent...). Back when we were living in the city, he'd take me to the listening parties he was invited to or around Def Jam where I'd always wear my creations. So proud of him for pursing his dreams and sticking to his passion. His work has been used in MTV P. Diddy & Jay Z diaries among other projects. He's an old soul at heart, I bet you could never guess his age (if you do I'll have to give you something). ^_^

Target Tuesday: Use Your Bikini as a Summer Outfit

Guess who’s back! It’s Target Tuesday, did you forget?

So most of you already know that I’ve been pursuing my masters degree (through my crazy #gradWOES hashtag for those who follow me on twitter) and I haven’t had to time or the energy to dedicate to my blogL But during my hiatus, I’ve rekindled my love for my blog-I just needed a moment to step away from it all! I’ll catch you up in another post or so of my new found revelations while on my blog-cation because I refuse to let today’s Target Tuesday outfit to be overshadowed by my blogger woes (<- that hashtag is coming soon as you can imagine).

For those of you who are just joining me, I started Target Tuesdays over a year ago due to the lack of in-store visual displays that really showed the chic fashions of the fashion forward retailer. My fashion merchandise and window display background over the years in a upscale department store gave me the idea to hand pick trend worthy items that were budget friendly and cost effective. Here’s the rest of the story of how my style challenge turned into a weekly adventure through this recap of my favourite posts over the last year!

So back to the point. My affinity to collect coloured denim from Target was a natural progression to obsess over colour denim cut-offs! What’s even better is that these cut off’s #1: come with this awesome neon skinny belt that I can reuse for other items and #2 they have the perfect amount of elasticity so that they fit around the shape of my legs perfectly!

Trendsetter Tip:

Never rule out the ultra cute swim suit top- even if you’re not going swimming! Who says you have to wear a bathing suit only to the beach?? If it makes you feel better think of it as a bandeau top, that way you can use it as a layering piece under sheer blouses while still remaining classy, chic and cool.
