Weekend Wrap-Up Recap: 7.30.12

It's the conclusion of the weekend which can only mean one thing- Monday is here in all it's glory! This weekend was pretty eventful but ironically I didn't take as many pictures of the events as I normally do. I think I'm actually trying to be more social in person instead of looking like the fashionably uninterested blogger who could care less about the activities around them rather than being glued to their phone. Talk about trying to break old habits! eekkk. However I have some exciting things in the works so I will make sure to document them with photos.

Last week I facilitated a workshop for an organization for Fashion Week of Rochester. I'm sure many of you have observed that with the explosion of fashion events and interests, cities have organized fashion shows to mirror the events at the original fashion weeks including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week etc.So the workshop was awesome and I spoke about the importance of branding in social media and strategies that can be used to mobilize your company. Hopefully sometime soon I can compile my notes and share them with the budding bloggers of the world.

Below is my look from Friday that I absolutely adore! I bought this orange wool skirt suit from the thrift store for about $15 and often break them up by pairing them with different pieces. Here's how I paired the skirt: Orange Vintage. I just can't get over the over-sized blazer! I simplified it with a stone washed skinny denim, a white tee and snake skinned sandals.

I even threw on a turban with my Guess glasses later on in the day. I often use a lot of remnant pieces from previous sewing projects to make my turban. Look out for the tutorial that I will be doing to learn how to spot the perfect fabrics for turbans!

Target Tuesdays: Fabulous Florals

Fabulous Florals
It's been quite awhile since I did a Polyvore Target Tuesday outfit and I was extremely excited to put this particular one together due to the floral patterns, prints, and pastels that have graced my pinterest boards and Instagram feeds. This 'Fab Floral' outfit is feminine but not overly girly with the typical flowy dress or off the shoulder blouse. Not that I'm against those items at all (since I covet those items like any other girl) but it's even more of a great style challenge to find florals that incorporate a little masculinity. So I paired bermuda inspired floral shorts with a blazer along with a hint of floral accents in the shades and wedges. It's purely perfect. Not over done but confident at the same time while staying cool under the fedora hat with a patterned trim.

Weekend Wrap-Up [Recap]: Toronto

My how time flies….this month the hubster and I celebrated four years since saying ‘I do’. As corny as it sounds the journey has been amazing, rewarding, and a lot of hard work. He definitely helps me by bringing a lot of humor to our relationship. We spent our anniversary in the heart of downtown Toronto, while hovering through China Town, frolicking in Kensington Market (which is a must see if you’re a vintage junkie!!), back across to the mall with beautiful architecture. I have a few window displays because I just can't get over visuals (I use to do visual for a number of years before my blogging days).

Our hotel was awesome!!! It has cleverly linked to the subway and was within reach for every major shopping place and it was right on the water. No wonder it's rated as a four diamond star hotel. geesh. Here are the snapshots of the good times-none of them are in any type of order since I grabbed them from my mobile photo album. The inside of our hotel was so elegant...and ironically located on Gotham Blvd!
beautiful vintage dresses all day in Kensington Market but the crazy lady in the background is scary....

Weekend Wrap-up [Recap]: Fourth of July

So clearly my weekend wrap-ups have been few and far between but I’ve been having an awesome summer despite taking classes. My work load is a lot lighter, so I actually have a weekend around this time of year. If you followed me on Instagram, you’d probably see a lot more pics than what I post on my blog (there’s probably an average of 2-3 day delay between uploading pics on blogger but I’m working on closing the gap. Really I am!). Since I haven’t done the weekend wrap-ups in the last week, let’s do a Weekend Wrap-up Recap (I really just like how that sounds…ohh).

I never got a chance to follow up on celebrating Fourth of July but it was purely awesome. The hubster and I definitely didn’t do the normal BBQ hoping from house to house. It was definitely way to hot, so we slept in all day like vampires and chilled with my friend JR and Amanda on their rooftop for an awesome view of the city to watch the fireworks. Let me just say-when anyone mentions rooftop, it sounds so exciting, right? Above the city line, looking over at everyone below while sharing laughs and crazy zombie escape stores (yeah that’s another convo I had with a cool girl I met named Katie). But once we got to the place to go up the building we realized climbing four floors back down in the middle of the night with only a flash light app on someone’s iPhone was NOT cutting it! Anyhoo take a look at the pics below.

(me and the hubster)

I love how JR uses his doggies as mini canvases for art work! It's pretty cool and harmless on his pets.
