Rasta Bart n' Box Braids

IMG_2997r copy
I could live all day in my 90s clothes....so for the unofficial 'official' Throw Back Thursday of the blogosphere, I decided to pay homage to my 80s and 90s babies! Now this t-shirt was not racked up at a thrift store (AS IF!) This is an original say it with me oooorrrriginal Rasta Bart t-shirt that was super popular in the 90s as Bart was metamorphosed into Teenage Mutant Ninja Bart, Air Simpson, and many, many others. His character was actually bootlegged on thousands of items across the country which launched this Bart frenzy.

I remember even some of them ripped off famous celebs like Jordan and M.C. Hammer. I don't even know if these are in print anymore (I doubt it) but I will forever be a collector of all things vintage-even my tattered tee ^_^

OOTD: Sheer Blouse & New Hair

Bye, bye brushes and combs for the summer! I am rocking my waist length braids over the next few months to give my hair a rest. Yesterday I felt absolutely gorgeous! I found this sheer blouse at a thrift store the other day for $2 and paired it with a black empire waist pant and gold Aztec chain from Charming Charlie. Clearly the best statement piece are the braids;D

I'm loving the look so far. I can't wait for my hair to loosen up a bit so I can do more styles:) If you haven't noticed I change my hair quite a bit (and did even more just a few short years ago!) I think I'm going to do a hair post of all the hairstyles I've had one of these days. Anyhoo, have a fabulous day!

Colour Block Cabana!

It's Friday!!!

And I promised you yesterday that I'd post a pic of my outfit. I love this strapless pink top. The colour  creates a great punch of colour while the sheer fabric and the details create a delicate and feminine top. The red pants and the suede blue heels make the colours look more vibrant. I'm so happy I am still able to get a summer outfit in and its September!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Cute Tribal Dress

It's Friday!!! And although I hate to think that I merely live for the one day leading up to the weekend its pitifully true. I almost forgot that I took a quick shot of this dress after my photo shoot last week (read the post here to see behind the scenes of the shoot). I was captured a few times in this outfit but the back was only showing and I wanted to do the outfit justice. I love cute dresses with pockets because it allows me to keep my key items close by: lipgloss and cell which I never leave home without. I remember buying this bag from a small store in Soho-it almost feels like burlap but it has a great woven design in the fabric. I actually remember that night since it was right before my cousin accepted the gig as Beyonce' wardrobe styist. Or maybe that was after and he was home visiting...I really should've kept a diary, I have a horrible memory! Man I miss those days. Why didn't I blog back then? I ask myself that question every day! I would have so many great adventures to look back on. Well, one thing I do know is that I'm overdue to visit the rotten apple. the wheels in my head are turning now at the thought of it....

Have a good weekend and stay fly!

Sweet Anticipation

Hello my beautiful followers! I was looking through the pictures on my hard drive and realized that I neglected to post these pictures. As I was looking through them, I realized that there seemed to be a theme of "waiting and anticipating" (which was purely accidental...except for the bus stop picture which just seemed like a cool idea when I saw the bus approaching.lol)

But for some reason, I love the feeling of anticipation whether its anticipating my next vacation, the weekend, a new side gig, or even the anticipation of the next big thing for this blog. To me, anticipation is the motivating force in everyday life...there's always something to look forward to...a new goal to reach, a new challenge to conquer. It must be the dreamer in me that cultivates this wild imagination and the fact that I always have this longing to know the future and how it will play out. Sounds funny I guess, but there's something about the anticipation of the future that gets me all giddy inside. I can't wait to see what God has destined in my life and yours. What are you anticipating?

By the way I love this outfit...it's a great way to sport a turban with an executive look. Always have fun with your clothes and take chances! So continue to stop by and don't forget to say hello from time to time ;D

PS: I am excited about my first feature that I've been working on which should be up soon. It's about the success of my friend's modeling career and how she views the fashion industry so stay tuned!

The Beginning of Festival Fun

Yesterday marked the last day of the 10-day Lilac Festival in Upstate New York. The annual festival is the kick off to a series of very cool festivals throughout the summer and is inspired by more than 500 unique lilacs that bloom every year around this time. Unfortunately, the festival is always a washout especially with the abundance of rain that we've been receiving that should go on record as being the rainiest period of the decade. But if you don't mind throwing on a pair of rain boots to trek through the mud puddles, it can be a great place to get your favorite carnival food like the fried dough with mounds of powdered sugar and cinnamon to Rochester's famous "garbage plate" by Nick Tahou's (the dish isn't as nearly disguising as it sounds). I was able to bypass the rain by taking these pictures a few days leading up to the fest and got some great shots. I love the way my nude lipstick and make-up mesh with the pinks and peachy tones of my outfit.

myStyle Challenge:Target Tuesdays

Have you ever spotted a shirt, blouse, or fitted pant, that looked so good that you needed it in every colour? I think I just found it! This could easily become my uniform for the rest of the summer! Today's myStyle Challenge for Target Tuesday is a cute Mossimo utility dress which is a great "Look for Less" ensemble. This rich camel colour dress really off-sets the chocolate brown braided sandals and the other earth-tone accents to pull the entire look together.

Originally, the dress came with a draw string belt but I substituted it with this faux leather belt to give the dress more structure to define my waist (you'll understand once you look at the dress online here). I know this is my second outfit incorporating neutrals but it's super easy for anyone to pull off this look, especially since you can never go wrong with neutrals because they are always in season-year round! I promise more colour next time, but for now this 'photo journalist' look is really making me debate switching careers...or maybe not.
Get the look below.

Buttoning the top button is a simple way of turning a cozy outfit into a military inspired dress
