Target Tuesday | Year in Review

Hello My Little Targettes!

It's..... T A R G E T | T U E S D A Y S

Can you believe it's the last Tuesday of the Year already?! 2014 snuck up on me faster than I could have ever imagined... But the great best part about entering the New Year is reviewing the past-starting with all of the my Target Tuesday looks throughout the year. I'll be tweeting my favourite looks on Twitter under PhysicalCanvas throughout the day in addition to my favs below!

 1. Electric Neon
Talk about transformations! This throwback is one of my favs because of the simplicity of my hair cut and the neon dress paired with sneakers. Even almost a year later this look is super trendy.

2. Phillip Lim for Target
Definitely one of my ultimately highlights is Target's collaboration with Phillip Lim! I scored so many great purchase and had the experience of a lifetime after the internet fiasco turned great PR that allowed me and other bloggers to help loyal Target customers score their most coveted items! Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 are equally my favs!

 3. Crush on Blush
Most recently, my Crush on Blush look made the list of my top Target Tuesday favs because of the versatility of the suite separates. These polished pieces can easily transition from the desk to the dinner table for an evening out.

Target Tuesdays | Phillip Lim for Target | Styling Tips: Part 3

IMG_3560A teaser
Hello My Little Targettes!

It's..... T A R G E T | T U E S D A Y S

I couldn't have kicked off the first of the month with a better outfit....clearly, out of the three Phillip Lim for Target Styling series, I've saved the best for last. This shirt dress embodies a few details that you may have missed in my Fab Finds post, including the tailoring and hem length all rolled into one. Ironically, I didn't see too many ladies rocking this dress on the blogosphere or in any Instagram pictures or Twitter #philliplimfortarget hashtags...my assumptions are pretty spot on as I realized that the dress is still available on the website in all five sizes here. After reading my styling tips for pairing a blazer with a dress to flatter your figure, I hope you'll re-think this cute little floral printed number.

Previous Posts:

Style Tip #1: Hemline & Shape
How adorable is this floral shirt dress?! The options are endless when layering a blazer over a dress for a seamless transition from the 9-5 meetings to an evening out, but it is important to understand the proportions when outfitting your look. Noting the length of the dress is pretty important to determine the type of blazer that will best accent the dress and your figure. The contemporary length of this dress with the flared back is pleasantly unexpected and can be pretty tricky to pair with a blazer if done incorrectly. Since the dress falls above the knee, pair a blazer which falls naturally below your waist to elongate your body and (this is super important) pair a belt with it to accentuate the waist to prevent the blazer and the dress from becoming too boxy. The combination of the blazer and the belt will add shape under the layers without loosing your figure.

Style Tip #2: All in the Sleeves
Push the sleeves above the elbow to mirror the amount of skin that is shown from your legs to create balance. In my opinion, there should always be a subtle symmetry in your wardrobe if you're splitting your body in half, from the neck to the waist and the waist to the ankle for a super sophisticated look. It's especially important since the oxford collar lays so closely to the neck leaving little skin for a more refined look.

Style Tip #3: Detail and Colour
Choose a blazer that has a little oomph to it to play up the femininity of the dress. I love a good pleated garment whether it's a skirt, dress or blazer. The knife pleats on this navy beauty forms a smooth line which contours towards my body and then feathers outward. It's a simple detail that gives the illusion of hips when layering a form fitting dress to add more shape and curves. The navy colour unifies the entire look and neutralizes the print if you are overly concerned that floral prints and color are too much of a fashion risk for your wardrobe.

Overall, these three tips for pairing a blazer with a dress will intensify this chic silhouette for a modern yet comfortable look.

Target Tuesdays: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target [Part 1]

Philip Lim for Target Part 1For months (and I mean MONTHS), the blogs, twitter feeds, and websites have been tuning into one of the greatest collaborations in retail history (yes it's that serious). Methodically launching after Mercedes-Benz fashion week so we're not all left depressed after fashion week is over, yayyy something to look forward to! Target and darling designer Philip Lim will be releasing the exclusively limited 3.1 Philip Lim for Target on September 15th!! If this is news to you, you poor, poor thing, where have you been?!

The coveted collection of apparel and accessories will debut both a women and men line with more than 100 items, ranging in price from $19.99-$299.99 including an assortment of bags, shoes and traveling items for jet-setters on the go (totally in line and convenient for those last minute vacations that I seem to be going on more frequently this year).
I've always admired how Lim incorporates well-taylored looks for the dressy meets casual look with oversize prints and a prepster-school girl flair. He definitely nails his signature look with his new collaborative project with Target (score!). I mean really, seeing his stuff on the runway made his coveted pieces seem unreachable! This fall, you won't be getting any whip lashes when glancing at the price and we, my wallet and I couldn't be happier {^_^}

I'm sure that Lim and his team have spent tireless hours putting together the look book but for the next three Target Tuesdays, I'll be styling my favorite pieces based on my own personal tastes and influences as if I was given free reign to raid the entire line! (insert Pinky & the Brain laugh here..muhahahaha). Ok, but getting back to the above look, I love how the mini gold purse compliments the robbia blue trousers with the oversize printed charmeuse. Darn you Lim, Love! Love! Love!

Target Tuesday: Floral Galore!

Hello Targettes,

If it isn't the favorite day of the week for all things Target Tuesday! This spring, the colour offerings have been bolder and the variety has been plentiful with an amazing assortment of the ever so popular floral trend! Paired with this yummy asymmetrical tangerine blazer with side zippers, this jacket is a cute staple piece that can be worn with just about anything-a skinny leg pant, a pencil skirt or thrown over a a dress for a feminine, softer motorcycle jacket look. The diagonal zippers along the waist and sleeve extends the versatility of the coat to be worn on any occasion.

Now can we talk about these pants?!

These Mossimo black and white floral pants are comfortable and classic with a twist of black, grey and white tones to incorporate into your summer wardrobe with a pop of colour. The floral detail is so impressive that it looks as if someone hand painted the flowers all over lower half of my canvas! Ok, ok, no pun intended but the floral IS pretty and perfect with a platform shoe to extend the length of my legs.
