I love seeing people do great things! Especially people that I know who are great people with big hearts! This Tuesday I happened to see a dear friend of mine and Rochester Native, Ashaka Givens, featured in Jet Magazine as a designer for the Designer's Spotlight section. This month's issue with Drake on the cover sheds light on her experience throughout the fashion industry and how she got her start in the business while working with the likes of Erykah Badu, Common, and others. I am proud to say that I was her design assistant for her first New York Fashion Week back in 2005 and worked as her fit model too! It was a dream come true to have a collection fitted to your body. I even ended up modeling a gown for the second show that evening! Oh the memories...
